If you had enough money-would you emmigate
Made up my mind yesterday bringing kids back from seeing wicked at the Apollo on district line. Is there anywhere left in the world where there are no bludy ragheads, burkas, smelly fat Africans and fuckin Russians?!! Don't care if I sound racist, just stating a fact, felt like we were on another planet. Fuk knows how the (minority) manage to commute uptown everyday?!

Overall I agree unitedsound, it's just that I find it difficult to accept that our once great communities have changed so much for the worse.

I'm now happy with where I live, but I feel sorry for the poor folk with young kids back in East London.

In the main though, we still live in the greatest country of them all.

Re: If you had enough money-would you emmigate
I grew up in East London and at 44 I feel I lived in a great era when the community was strong, loyal and vibrant.

It all seemed to change so quickly and 9 years ago we decided to make the move out to Essex where all the East End folk tend to go.

When I'm in East London now it makes my skin crawl with how bad and 3rd worldish it has become. I commute into the City each day where I work, but thankfully I avoid the type of people being discussed, and it's almost like an out of sight out of mind type of situation.

I travel around Europe and the US a fair bit in my job, and I would say though that what we see in London is exactly the same everywhere else. That is apart from Switzerland where they have control over their borders.

This is just my observation and I don't know what the answer is; with the world a smaller place do we all just have to live with it?

If I had enough money, might get a nicer drum, somewhere in the country. Not sure about leaving, rather defeats the object

If it's so shit here, take a job elsewhere that doesn't pay as well?

I wish I had done after I graduated

Now with a wife, kids, a mortgage and a job that pays well and I wouldn't find anywhere else (despite the fact I hate it) I'm pretty much stuck

Wish I'd given America a go

Re: If you had enough money-would you emmigate
My happiness has mainly been found in the company of certain family members and friends. Where we've been or reside hasn't really mattered a toss as I don't think I'd ever find the perfect lifestyle unless certain mates were near by anyways, and the only time I notice how things are changing in London is when I do lone journeys like on the tube to work. Then I meet up with like minded people at work and some I don't like, but in the main get on the best with easy going types and not pushy attention seekers which you can get all over the world. As for immigrants as long as I'm able to communicate and because I don't work with clusters of say Pole's and only singular/couples we get on like a storm as they have picked up the English sense of humour brilliantly as have many Asian, African and Afro Carribean's.

Should have seen the Czech girl at work going mental about the woman who wants the tax payer to pay for her wedding, it was hilarious and shows once you pay your taxes we are all in the same boat.

Well done to those who have made he move abroad to find their happiness but why the slagging I don't know as we should all realise that London at the very least have you the impetus to up sticks and search for your happiness even if it means you now being the 'foreigner'

I think I just like being a Londoner to be honest and have been lucky to have good mates who's supplied me with plenty of good moments to override the fact many of us won't find our utopia no matter how many times we move, because that changes as we get on too.

I love London too. Brilliant place that we'll move back to when the world freezes over and there's nowhere left...

Why emigrate, you've got everything here, every race of people in the world, diseases in the east end we thought we'd got rid of, just give it a few years and they'll be so many of them coming here and so many of our kids going elsewhere because they are at the bottom of the list for any housing and you'd swear blind you were in a third world country

The last 2 times I've been back we have stayed in Northumberland avenue. Lovely part of London between Embankment and Trafalgar square. Easy to go out and see the sites shows ect and all in easy walking distance. Spent a lot of time in London in my youth and when working nights for LUL , so you get to know the city and West end quite well. Kids love it but Ive told them if we lived in London I doubt it would be in Northumberland avenue

Bloody love London. A city based on immigration, integration, intolerance, and hard work. I'd move back in a flash if I could.

Re: If you had enough money-would you emmigate
I live in a city which is often the most 'livable' in the world. Maybe it is, and it suits me. But if I could live in the same size house in London as close to the city I would in a shot.

Love London and always love coming home to visit.

Oh and wtf is wrong with the water am I missing something?

Where do you live ICWH
